WOOD JOINTS

Joints are used to build strength into products and there are many methods of achieving this. The image above shows a halving joint. Listed below are eight other commonly used joints that require only glue. Your task is to create isometric sketches of four of the following joints. Try to represent the joints at an appropriate scale to fill a sheet of graph paper using correct proportions. Notes for each of the joints can be found in our shared folder.
  1. Butt joint
  2. Mitre joint
  3. Halving joint
  4. Mortise and Tenon
  5. Dowel joint
  6. Lap joint
  7. Housing joints
  8. Finger joint
  9. Dovetail joint
